➡️A reminder on the European Omnibus Directive, which came into force in France on 28 May 2022 and was transposed into the Consumer Code, providing in particular that the following commercial practices are considered misleading (and liable, for natural persons, to 2 years’ imprisonment and a €300,000 fine, and, for legal persons, to a €1,500,000 fine):❌ publishing customer reviews without taking reasonable and proportionate steps to verify their authenticity; ❌ sending, or instructing a third party to send, false or distorted reviews. Two options are available to bring yourself into compliance with this new law: ✔️ put in place a process for verifying reviews; or ✔️ clearly indicate that the published reviews are not verified. For industries where reviews matter greatly (hospitality, restaurants, etc.), a verification system will therefore have to be considered, informing the consumer in particular of the way in which reviews are verified. #france #omnibus #consumerlaw #internet Sources: https://lnkd.in/dkZGcuMXhttps://lnkd.in/dK2bKRCT
